Involvement in Space Day in Pulaski County Reaps Benefits

Space Day in Pulaski County started as an offshoot of Lockheed Martin's Space Day educational initiative, which has ties to NASA.

Over 30,000 children and their parents attended the national Space Day celebration at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C. Among the many events were a showing of the new Star Trek XI movie at the IMAX theater and talks with autograph signing by the 7 NASA Astronauts in attendance.

Even the young people get involved. Children in the All God's Children Day Care program at the First Christian Church in Winamac participate in the Space Shuttle Exposure Experience, taking home decals of the Space Shuttle afterwards.

Students at Eastern Pulaski Community School Corporation and West Central School Corporation sign posters sponsored by Lockheed Martin's Space Day initiative. These posters were digitized and flown on the Space Shuttle.
